Hide and Seek

Description

Just two dolphins playing hide and seek. Anthro dolphins are rarely drawn so I decided to give the challenge a try. Anthro dolphins are awkward in appearance and I tried as hard as I could to keep them from looking awkward I believe that I succeeded with the body but not the head. I hope someone appreciates this work because it's rare to find anthro dolphin drawings and even rarer to find decent anthro drawings

It's about time I exploit my ability to give critiques to people, so your work would be a good place to start!

Yes, anthro sea creatures are a little more rare than others, although I have seen quite a few orcas in my time. Your depiction of the dolphins is the kind I've come to expect, accurate as always, and pretty cute. <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt="=)" title="=) (Smile)"/>

Their markings have a pretty intricate design (including the colors behind their eyes), and it reminds me a little of your other characters, and even your bikes! In my opinion, the markings might be a little too complex, as dolphins actually have a very simple pattern. If it weren't for their body shape, I wouldn't instantly recognize their species.

The hide and seek theme was something I picked up without even reading the description, which of course is a good thing! The guy in the foreground lying down with his finger to his lips really tells you everything you need to know.

As for the scene itself, that's really lively. I like all the variety you put into the plant life! The red seaweed in the center could use a little more depth but the see-through effect is quite nice. One little pearl (pun intended) of wisdom is that the further away something is, when viewed underwater, the duller its colors become (especially reds), as everything fades to a murky blue.

The last little detail that really made me think was the cross, which is floating upwards rather than being pulled down by gravity. That's something I might not even have thought about if I had done this drawing myself, but you're absolutely right about it!
